Dear John and Adrian,I hope you are well and thank you for bearing with me on a further update.
As you are probably aware, Blake met with residents of Streatley back in May 2025 along with a representative of Central Bedfordshire Council to discuss road safety concerns in person and have a walk around the village to see the issues first hand which residents found beneficial.
Central Bedfordshire Council had initially agreed to carry out some further ATC Surveys across Streatley however Blake was disappointed to then find out from CBC that after they had re-reviewed the previous data collected, they informed us they are of the opinion that further surveys are not going to tell us anything new.
Frustrated by this response, Blake has followed up with the CBC portfolio holder for Highways and met him in person to relay on residents’ concerns. However, Blake is still not reassured from this meeting that the relevant commitments will be made. Blake understands that budgets are tight but wants to see this Independent Administration investing more into our Highways.
I appreciate this update may come as a disappointment and whilst Blake does not have direct oversight of decisions made by CBC, he will continue to monitor this closely.
Regarding the M1-A6 link road, I am afraid that the update from June 2025 remains the same. Blake is continuing to push for more answers.
Kind regards,Joe Irwin – Caseworker
